Entered after crossing Europe in a just-delivered 993 GT2, doubling as its 3000 km running-in. The highlight is a 73 RS going in flat out and spinning. Also reflects on Europe's low-μ, flat road surfaces.
May '96, Misano (near Rimini, Italy), 9 years ago... Misano is a circuit near Rimini, the Italian resort on the Adriatic coast. Technogym, the world's number two in gym equipment, also has its head office in Rimini. (not that it matters・・・) Video from the PZ INNTAL Porsche driving school The highlight is the sight of the Porsche 73 RS going in flat out and spinning, spectacularly. Do the same at a Japanese track day and it would surely start up about bad manners and the rest, but in Europe, where everything is your own responsibility, off-piste at a ski resort is help-yourself, and at track days > driving schools it very much is too. The 993 GT2 had just been delivered, and to get through the 3000KM running-in quota: Stuttgart → Luxembourg (one night) an early-morning dash from Luxembourg → Brussels or Antwerp and back Luxembourg → Munich (one night) → Rimini a driving school straight after that brutal trip You can see the silver Porsche 73 RS from the Mugello video I put up the other day as it was before its transformation. Porsche 911 RS (73 RS) flat-out Mugello video Misano itself is a circuit almost unknown in Japan, but Italian domestic races like F3 seem to be held there. The layout is very orthodox, and the run-off is as wide as Paul Ricard, but the grass is uneven, and on the back straight I remember a Porsche 993 Turbo rolling and being written off・・・・・ A course with the low-μ, flat surface typical of European circuits. I have a feeling one of the reasons Japanese drivers cannot win races in Europe is the low-μ surface. (just an amateur's idle commentary・・) Back then it was only Suzuka, but now the circuits I know, like Fuji Speedway, Sportsland SUGO and Twin Ring Motegi, all seem to have abnormally high surface grip (μ).

96年5月 MISANO(イタリア リミニ近く) 9年前。。。
